Fog Light Questions
Fog Light Questions
Why is that every fog light i buy seems to be the exact same brightness as the stock ones? The silverstar, APC super white, and sylvania 100 watt bulbs all are the exact same. The APC super whites were supposed to be 80 watts, but look like 110. I was gonna buy the PIAA xtreme white, but im skeptical because i dotn want to spend 50 bucks on a pair of fogs if they turn out to be the same as what i already have. I did the independent foglight rewire, and i want to be able to shine brightly when im cruising around town with just my fogs.
Second question, I see people using yellow fogs, and im kinda interested in those. Where would i pick some of those up, and when i get the bumper lenses, where would i get the yellow bulbs to match those. If you guys have any pics of your fogs, post and let me know what they are and where you got em.

and also, why is it that no matter what wattage bulb i use, they appear to be dim and not even bright? Is there a rewire to make the foglights brighteR?

I bought some Bulbs from my work. They made by a company called Redline. These bulbs are H3 100w xenon hyper white. I put them in to see how bright they are, they got really hot. The heat was coming out of the fog light glass was so hot that was kind of burning my hand. I took them out. I don't want to burn anything, like my wire harness or the socket. What is a good wattage that is safe? Is 85w a good number to use? Please help thanks.
Don't run 85w bulbs in your fogs, as they are built for 55w. Even if you upgrade your wires, you will put a strain on the lens housing and probably cause it to crack prematurely.
As far as just good OEM-style light bulbs, get the Sylvania ones. They are bright with light output.

you should go to michaels and get one of those half off coupons from the paper flyer. krylon makes a yellow transparent glass paint that works like a charm everyone thinks i spent alot for them they only cost 8 bucks instead of 16 in the end
Hey bud, I know you're new, but the last post in this tread was over 6 years ago. I'm pretty sure any question they might have had has been answered long ago. Thanks for the tip, but here's one back - the top left of each post has the date.
