Freaky Switch Problem? H-E-L-P Meee...

I have a 95 Maxima with 98 front. Bought a 97-99 fog light kit. Everything hooked up right except for the stalk light switch (has a different connection). So I bought a used 96SE switch w/fog. I just hooked that up and wierd **** is going on.
1. Headlights on = Brights on (can't turn them off in this position).
2. Parking lights on = Only Right headlight on.
3. Off = Only Right headlight on (Can't turn it off).
4. Fogs on = nothing (won't come on at all).
Could someone tell me what is happening or is my car just having an allergic reaction to the used part? I don't know, please HELP!

first question, why do you say it's a 98 then in your info if you have a 95?!??

the only time i know that it says your brights will come on when they shouldn't is when one of your bulbs has blown out. check those first because it could explain why it says your brights are on at one time, then only one works otherwise. i'd bet one of your bulbs has the lowbeam burnt out. after that, i'd check the fuses. after that, i'd then hope someone else on here knows what to do or i'd call a mechanic. goodluck

Sorry, I have a 95 & 98. I put the 98 bumper on the 95. I don't have a blown bulb because when the old switch was on everything worked fine. I put it back on again after I tried the other switch and everything still worked normal. All fuses are good & relay is in. Is there a mechanic/electrician in the house? Can someone please help?

Found out the switch had a plastic lever broken after I opened it up (hense the high beam problem). Then replaced the broken plastic lever with a screw. My car battery died. I jumped the car and it works perfect now. What just happened ? Oh well, all is good.
