Hi guys,

I just have a quick question, i drive a 1985 Maxima, and i would just like to know that if everything is running smoothly in the car what number should the voltmeter read?

 

13. To 14. Somthing Volts

 

yeah, high-13 to low-15 is ideal, with a good alternator. this will change if you're drawing a high amount of current simultaneously, such as headlights, fan and defogger all at once. above 15 or below 13 means trouble. I wish more cars had these, cos the little red battery symbol light is basically useless.

Mine averages 13.5-14 volts. I'm also running a system which draws on it pretty good.

Pretty much the same here, around 14-15. But around 13.5 with lights, heater, stereo, and inverter for the computer on.

 

mine drives at 12 but sometimes it shoots up to 14 to 15. i think then that im having some problems.....

 

The battery gage should be at 14.6 volts when the car is on. But thats like the perfect scenerio. If your within 1 volt of 14.6 while the car is on the your right where you want to be.

 

Mines always been at 14 also. It is normal. Well its been reading that for years.
