VQ30DEK Manifold swap to a 4th gen

Hi,

I was just wondering what you guys think of swapping a '00 ~ '01 DEK variable manifold to a '96 Maxima? I know it looks like alot of work but im willing to bet with a little R&D it can be done. I think some of the sensors can be swapped over and some mods can be done to get it to fit. Physically it should fit cause the 4th gen manifold seems a little bigger in the back than the DEK manifold, however the DEK manifold seems a little bit taller so I might have to mod the hood. Any thoughts or opinions?

There's probably more, but this is the latest. Check the 4th Gen FAQ's too. Cheers!

Because the 5th gen VI is a superior design in every way...

well some people like me dont want the mevi beacuse of the low end loss and you need a jwt ecu for it to even give you any gains.

I wanna know if a 5thegen manifold would fit to.

I wonder how much work would it take?

Who knows but it would nice to have. Come to think of it I checked out my cousin's car she's got a 2k Maxima. Im feeling that the 4th gen firewall will clear with the DEK manifold. The hood will probally just barely fit with the DEK manifold.

I think the hardest part would be to see if our injectors clear and where/how to mount the IACV.

We will have to wait for Krismax to finish to tell us.

Someone with the skills and tools should really just try to do this...it's been such an ongoing debate here...someone needs to just try it. I guarantee it's doable by someone with enough dedication.

I bet it would sound pretty nasty too.

I KNOW it's not a direct fit. I dont know if it IS possible, but if it is.....it'll take a lot of work. Work that I probably dont know exists.

dude, you have to be the biggest noob ever. This has been discussed a million times and its been said that the stupid thing wont clear. I may be the most experienced noob but you must be the laziest noob. READ the FAQ d*ck head.

BTW, there are more issues than clearance which makes this virtually impossible. Although the DEK performs a smoother line, its gonna be much cheaper to just get a VI with JWT ECU. Your talking probably up to 1,000 alone if not more just trying to get the upper manifold to fit. Dont waste your time on this...

dont say i didnt tell u so

This thread was a little joke we thought up at the meet. To stir the pot so to speak and get some laughs before Krismax would debut the DEK job for real.

Meccanoble was in on it too so no need to give him flak for anything.
