My car failed smog check at only 93K miles??

. My car failed the NO test. I took it to the mechanic and he said he couldn't finish cleaning the EGR valve in one day. Why does that valve get clogged?? Is this normal? My cosins maximas don't have any problems

Do you have a y-pipe?

I had to do a smog check and I failed it by just a little. The damn limits are getting lower and lower every year! The limit was around 300 for NOX and I got a little over.

Try racing the car before the test to really let your cat warm up. Your NOX ratings will vary. Just hope it will dip below the limit!

the upper limit is 430. My cat got 470
I actually drove the car for 1 hour before doing the smog check, and the day was hot. My max is having so many problems lately. Alternator failed, AC needs fixing, Caster for both wheels are out of spec, and oil in the spark plug wells.
It's gonna cost like 1500 at the end . Hopefully after I fix all that the car will run strong again.
