anyone know where to find black chrome spraypaint?

I'm going to color my headlamps and I was wondering if any has had any luck in finding black chrome spraypaint? It's essentially the same color as the oem dark is200 tail lights, or the tail lights of the new rx330.

let me know if you can help, thanks!

I'm not sure if there's such thing. If there is, I've never seen it. But there's graphite and other random colors like that.

This link below shows EXACTLY what I want. As stated above, found on IS300/RX330 tails.

Holy domain name batman!

my best guess would be your local hobby shop. possibly even a craft shop. if you cant find it there ask the ppl at those places, they may be able to help.

Im also thinking the guys that perform this service arent spraying out of a can they are using professional tools and like the page states custom colors may be mixed upon request. So you may not even find this in a can. But good luck.

Might try local bodyshops as well. They are usually pretty resourceful on getting specialized paints.

hahah..hey Jon.

I really like the color! I think Testors might have it. They sent me a color sample guide and I should be getting it in a few days.

i've never seen actual black chrome done with paint, let alone out of a can. usually it is actually chrome dipped in a special solution. that is how the lexuses have theirs done. the plastic is coated with copper, then plated. i would assume if they do sell paint that resembles it, it would come out like the chrome spray paint, it looks like poop

and that was done by gmp, not a model builder, plus its a metal body, so for all we know it may actually be chrome plated. you are not going to find a rattle can spray that looks like chrome. http://www.alsacorp.com/products/mir...irra_price.htm
they make chrome paint, and its not cheap, and from what i have been told it is super dificult to replicate real chrome look even with experience.

well if you're trying to "black pearl" a already chromed part you can look for a black pearl testor paint...i believe the color is out there...just gotta look for it.

it's more of a translucent black color. so it still retains the chrome effect but darker.

I hate to say it but i got it from a HONDA site.. the guys sprayed over his orginal chrome headlight housing with this stuff..

http://www.testors.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=1414

and I'll be damned if it didn't look exactly like black chrome..

now the only question for me is.. do i want the flat black JDM look or the black chrome

I actually have about three cans of that stuff, I was going to to it for the maxima but I opted not to.

chinkzilla, do you have any pics of the guy who did it to his honda? actually, I also went to a honda source (rsxclub) to research since I know that crowd experiments a lot with getting the JDM look.

thanks for all your help so far. I will try testing out your suggestion using a misc. plastic piece painted with chrome, and then on top of that, with the black transparent paint.

If I'm right that's Craig Lieberman's car and if it is, it never gets driven anyway.
