Front Bumper

Hi,

I own a 2000 Maxima (SE Model) and have a question. I got in a car accident 2 years ago, which I got repaired shortly after the accident. They replaced the whole front bumper, grill and lights. The damage was located in the front passenger side front bumper. After the repair, to me it looks different, it doesn't have that sporty look that it had. Does anyone know if any parts have changed between the 2000 and 2003. I took it in to the dealership recently and mentioned the situation to the sales manager who got the body shop involved (they repaired the car). The guy said that all of the bumpers are the same for the 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003 and that nothing has changed. I think he is full of bull but I thought this might be a good place to start. If you need any more information at all please let me know. Any information that you might be able to share would be helpful.

Thank you in advance.

The 2K-2k1's are the same, but the 2K2-2K3's are different as compared to the 2K-2K1's. The 2K-2k1's have halogen headlghts and plastic fogs, whereas the 2K2-2K3's have HID's and glass fogs. This, in turn, changes the shapes of the bumpers, too.

Thank you for the quick reply. Also, I noticed before the accident when opening the hood there was a little opening to get your finger in the grill to open it. Now, it's a little bit different. Anyway, there probably isn't much I can do at this point. What's your opinion on this? Just wondering.

they definitely used a 2k2-3 bumper for the replacement, cus it sits higher, that would explain the small amount of space for your finger to pop the hood.

The grill on the 2k/2k1 is attached to the bumper (1 piece). The grill on the 2k2/2k3 is a separate piece. The 2 grills look different also. I would think that this would be pretty apparent. How would they get a 2k/2k1 grille on a 2k2/2k3 bumper?

Yeah, not only that, but the bumper cover on the 02/03 Max's has a sharp edge at the front. As opposed to the smooth curve on the 00/01s.

You'd definitely be able to notice the difference between an 00 and 02 bumper cover. I think it's all in your head. But I'd still like to see the pics.

How do I post pics? When I go to click insert image it puts the following[/IMG]? From what it said in the freq questions it says if you have pics, hit the insert image and browse to the photo on the hard drive to insert. It doesn't give me that option. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Let me know what your thoughts are on the front bumper and the overall look of the front end.

Thank you.

It is a 2k bumper...but what's with the space in between the lights? Take it back to the shop and tell them to fix it. It doesn't look right at all...
