Will a similar bose fit?

Hey guys. Since my bose cd/tape/radio head unit it shot, I'm thinking of buying one from ebay or whatever. Mine has the large power button, and I see some around with the cd changer button and small power button. Seems identical otherwise. Will the one with the cd changer button plug into my 3rd gen? Same connectors?

Keep on keepin on,

Matt

the one with the CD changer button is for a 95 and up Nissan. The plugs are different.

That being said it can be made to fit. I have done it and I know a couple of others have too. You can get a regular wiring harness for your car and a female harness for a 95 up and match them up.

The wiring should be available from scosche or metra.

just like Michael said, it works, and actually pretty good from what Diego has told me. He's the one that showed me how, pretty sweet idea actually.

Cool. internetautomar , I sent you an email about getting those parts.

I won the auction...hopefully the guy (0 ebay feedback) comes through. I'm missing my stereo.

Actually...I'm still banking on the problem being the head unit. No sound comes out most of the time...once in a while sound come out, and it sounds fantastic...and from what I've been told here, it's the HU.

It seems like I'll need these parts:

http://www.scosche.com/scosche/connectors/nissan.asp

(NN02 and NN03). So, I just use these and then cut and crimp them together with similar colors maybe? Is that the general idea?

that is the general idea but you do not need the nno3. THat is used to install radios into a 4th gen. You actually need the opposite type of plug (one that looks just like the factory 4th gen harness). You do need the nno2 though.

Try Best Buy for the female Nissan connector. That's where I bought mine when i got my 96 maxima cd/cassette unit.

what you need is a metra part # 70-1763 and a 71-7550 about $25 for both harnesses

From pics online, it seems like the 70-1763 will plug into the 93max stock wiring harness, so that seems right.

the 71-7550 seems like it will plug into the 95max stock wiring harness...rather than into the 95max bose system, so that seems backwards. Am I off there?

those #'s were pulled from metra's catalog (they want me to go direct with them)
71- 7550 (and I quote)
Plugs into Priginal Equipment Radio nissan 95-up
70- 1763
Plugs into CAR harness at radio

Please note that one is a 70 and the other a 71

no problem, all I ever ask in return is that people buy their parts from me.

I followed your link and didn't find anywhere that I could really buy parts. At least these parts.

don't really get asked for stuff like that so I've put it up on my site.
I probably will once I get my cost on it.

Ahh. Like that. I'll run down to the local joint after my stereo comes in and verify that those parts look right. Then email him if his price is better.

Your price is def better. I got the 95bose and the cd/tape player are broken. So...I don't need the wires. I'm sick of this thing. The guy at best buy says he knows what to do to get the aftermarket system sounding right with my bose...so I'll give him a try.

I do have a 92 bose and a 95 bose that are broken that I don't need though...if anyone needs parts.

Best buy came through. I miss the bose, but I'm glad to have tunes back in the maxima. One question though... instead of having them put a "pocket" (I think he called it) under the radio, I had him install a drawer that I had from a 4th gen maxima. Little wood-looking drawer that you press in to release. It fit great, but the "wood" doesn't match at all. I'd like to paint it black.

What paint should I use for this? I've never painted anything on my car.
