HELP my car is running like crap.

I removed the TB/IM restrictor on Friday and everything seemed fine until Saturday on the way home from a friends house. When I first start the car it will barely idle even shutting off once. If I ease in to it everything is fine until you reach 4500 rmps then it will immediatly cut back to 3000 and if I floor it the rpms will jump up to around 4200 and hover there but the car barely accelerates.

My car is a 2k auto with 70k miles.

Make sure the hose that connects your air filter to the MAF is secure. Also check the hose that connects MAF to the throttle body. You may want to disconnect you bettery for a few hours as well. Good luck.

The tranny slipping shouldn't cause the car to shut off.

It does sort of feel like it when it happens but it does it when the car is in park and i just rev on it. I have checked all the vacum lines, reinstalled the intake adapter and reset the ECU and nothing seems to make a difference. Does it sound like a MAF problem to anyone?

Honestly I dont think there is a direct between this and the restrictor. I put it back in and still have the problems.

The strange thing about this it that it seems to be getting better on its own. Now I can give it a little more throttle before the bog begins and the RPMS will go to 5000 instead of 4500 before it goes back down.

Removing the restrictor may have created a condition where the ECU needs to be reset -- try leaving the battery disconnected for awhile, as has been suggested, and see if that doesn't clear the problem up. If not, check out your MAF.

I left the battery off for about 12 hours and it didnt clear up the prob.. What is the normal (if there is a normal) amount of time to leave it disconnected?
