Rear wheel dust cap question

I recently purchased a set of Motegi DP6 rims for my Max, upon installing the rear rims I noticed that the rear wheel dust cap actually blocks the space where the center cap should go (can't even fit a needle through it).

I was wondering if anyone else encountered the same issue with Motegi or other brand rims, I have been told that I can either hammer the dust cap in order to make it fit or take out the dust cap completely.

Are any of these two solutions recommended at all? Any help is appreciated, once I figure out how to post a picture I'll put one up.

Thanks

I hammered my dustcaps down. Looks kinda ugly but it keeps the dust out.

I also hammered my dustcaps down around the edge. Basically round off the square edge. Take off the dust cap and you will see why you do not want to leave if off-you will have an exposed hub bearing.
