Gauging interested, ST Springs

Well after my conversion is complete, I won't be able to utilize my rear springs. Which sucks, but oh well, what can you do? Anyways, I'm probably gonna switch out my setup in favor of 3rd gen lowering springs it looks like. So I might have my ST's for sale. They are about a 1.5" drop. I will probably sell them for maybe $150 not including shipping. If they do come available though, I have some guys that have dibs:

cardana24

So let me know if your interested.

I'd go ahead and just do all 3-gen springs. We haven't measured the front diameters. Maybe you can use the 3-gen springs on your 2nd gen front struts.

My guess is the springs are pretty close in the front. They look very similar.

So here is how it looks:

My struts are not for sale yet. But they maybe if I find the the fronts won't work.

The ride doesn't seem much different from before. It's a little boucier...but not much...but thats because I got stock 3rd gen struts/springs in the back.

Springs should be off the car in about week or two. C_Townwhat may need 3-4 weeks to pay for them. So cardana, 86 wagon, if you pay for them before he does. They are yours. I'm not sure how much shipping is going to be yet. I need to get them weighed, but 2 are still on the car, and 2 are still on the rear strut assemblies. Price is $150. PM/Post here if your interested.

you guys can have first crack at them...I would not be ready to buy them for another month or so.....and also I am not positive I can lower my 87 because of the profile tire I used with my 16s.....i think they are 55.

What are your tire sizes? I'm running 205/605/15's with the I30 rims and they don't seem to have clearance problems. I don't think you'll have much to worry about unless your rubbing now. Scott you interested?

I am pretty sure I have 205/50 or 60/16.....and I will bottom out everyonce in a while....but I am not sure if that just because my stock springs are shot? Also since I have done my struts, the front wheel gap is more than the back so I am def. going to need something that lowers the front more than the rear....I dont know what the specs on the ST's are but I am pretty sure the Intrax will drop you more in the front.

It's for all 4 springs. I still have the muffler if you still want it. It's yours for $25...but you pay shipping. 2" inlet, 2.25" outlet I found. Chrome angle cut tip.

Yeah, my stock springs when I had them sagged in the rear. The ST springs are a more modest lowering than the intrax. Intrax are probably the most aggressive for our cars with like a 1.8" drop in front and 1.6" drop in the back. ST's are 1.5" all the way around. From the sounds of it, you probably won't have many problems with rubbing...or at least shouldn't.

BTW, I hear you got your beast on the dyno. Did it have all your nifty little mods you got installed?

you hear a lot of things 'O' wise one I am not ready to buy the springs at this point but if you still have them in a few weeks then I may pick them up from you....I will keep you posted. And from what I can tell from your pics, these springs level the car out pretty nicely. I just want to make sure the drop is not more in the back than in the front once everything is settled....because right now I already have that look and I really want to get rid of it. After I get my 87 droped and put a rear sway bar on I would like to start road racing it.....I would like to ralley as well....we will see how it goes....it would help if I were turbo....oh well.

-sarin if you could just comment on how the car sits once eveything settles...I really want to get rid of the lower in the back look

As before the ST springs are advertise to have a 1.5" drop all the way around. When I had my stock springs, I had the sagging back as well, and it was worst when accelerating. One thing I notice with the ST springs is they level the car out quite a bit, but give the impression the front is slightly lower than the back. I had about 1.5-2 finger gap all the way around. One thing I notice is my Eibach springs are a 1.2" drop all the way around, so my current pics look similar. Here are some of the old pics I have. These pics were taken back in March 04. The fronts springs were in since July/August 03, and the rears since November 03. So it's pretty safe to assume they are settled!

Here is a new one with the Eibachs and new tires, BFGoodrich Radial T/A's, 205/55/15. The tires I had before were 205/65/15, and the left barely a finger gap all the way around. If looked nice, but it seem that they could rub if I cornered hard enough...plus my speedo was off...though it was only like 3mph at 60:

thanks! It's a good car, but it has it's issues too. I got some seals needing replacement, some front end work, sensors, timing belt, and a few things here and there.

I still need a few more weeks before I have the money for this....I also need to check if my tires will even clear the fenders with these....what I mean is I have aftermarket wheels (that are taller and wider) and by looking at them it looks as if they may hit the fender before they actually tuck....I kinda worry about this because I would like to road race my 87 at some point.....I just need to find some heavy people to sit on my hood and trunk to test my theory

Well, I'm sure you "make" it fit. But different cars have different lengths of the strut assemblies; there's no standard length. Also, the mounting points at the top and bottom will likely be very different as well. Honda Civics (5th gen and earlier), Integras, and CRX's have have double-wishbones in the front. In our cars the strut almost acts like a link and needs to be stronger as a whole than if we had double wishbones. Also keep in mind that the cars that the springs were designed for (i.e. Civics, Accords, CRX's, Integras) weigh quite a bit less than our Max's, so you might have to put heavier (stiffer) springs on.

That being said, if you know anybody with a dropped Honda, maybe you could look at his coilovers and see how similiar they are, how hard or easy it would be to put on your car, and what kind of parts you would need made.

You could get coil overs to work in the fronts most likely using 4th gen ones, with a 2nd gen strut mount.....however....the rears won't work since we have a parallel link setup instead of the multi-beam crap the 4th gen's have. So you'd have to find something that would fit a the back......maybe something from a U12 Stanza, or maybe a first gen altima...but I'm unsure if that will work.

crap, I was right about the size of my tires they are 205/55/16's....while I was looking at them last night I noticed that the driver side front tire has cut on the side of the tread close to the side wall....I am guessing this is where I am already rubbing it on the fender.....I have really stiff shocks on the front but I do have stock springs...so maybe those are worn out.....
Sarin- are these springs really stiff? I need something that is not going to allow the front to dip down even on hard cornering

They are much stiffer than stock, but not so harsh that it makes the ride unbearable.
