18" HP EVO Lightnings on my 2K2 *PICS*

Just got these on. Thanks to maxed up's GD for the rims.

Falken 512's. 245 x 40 x 18.

Pics aren't the best...cloudy day and no tripod, but you'll get the idea.

All comments welcome.

I thought the same thing about the drop when I saw the pics....but I'm already running Maxspeeds.

I measured, and the actual gap is the same as with the factory rims and tires. I noticed that the shoulders of the 512's seem to be a bit more rounded than the stock Blowtenzas and I didn't apply the 303 to that part so the gap is kind of an illusion.

Anyway...I'll probably go with Tein S springs and new struts later this year

Wow those look good on black. I should probably get those. Did you use spacers?

I figured you'd spot that, BLKMAX. I cut and glued together 2 pieces of plastic, painted the edge black and glued that to the center cap insert. Then I stuck on the silver HP cap. It worked pretty well. If you look closely, you can see about 1/4 inch of the black plastic just under the silver cap.

here's how mine looks... i trimed that front bolt quarter of an inch using a metal cutter blade that you put in a circular saw. cut the bolt 1/4 inch and centercaps fit perfectly... they are wrapped in 255/45R18 Falken Azenis ST-115 tires. No spacers on front or back.

Unsure on Madison as I may be on-the-road (as always) but...keep "motivating" my a** between now and then and I will try to make it. Wouldn't mine joinin' another "Black Max Crusade,", any plans on that? Plate frame, eh? Bout' time man, now I can quit raggin' on ya'! The 18"'s were/are an excellent choice IMO, a good balance between aesthetics and performance. What’s your initial assessment (handling, ride quality, etc.)?

...probably go with Tein S springs and new struts later this year.
What's driving you torwards this particular setup?

Yeah, I'll keep on ya aboout the Madison thing. I'm hoping to have another 'Black Max Caravan' down there.

I've wanted to drop lower for a while. The Maxspeeds just aren't quite enough....

Don't forget to "cut-down and cap-off" those battery tie-down rods with some closed stainless nuts.

.45 - Yeah, I still have to do that with the battery tie down.

dba1999us - They are painted silver...but you're right, there's some corrosion coming through. MAybe in the fall I'll repaint the calipers. That would be a good time to do the rotors, too.

It was about 6-9 months ago....IIRC I got it from Southwest Autoworks. At that time it was on a close-out. I'm not sure if they still stock them or not.

Tires and wheels came to $1350.

Got the tires locally, so they were a bit more $ than mail order. And the Falkens weren't back ordered from my local Tires Plus.

1350 is not bad at all for 18s with Falkens.... hm... Im starting to like the HP EVos and Moda R6 over the Mille Evos. Reason - 90% of the org has Mille Miglias where 10% has others..
