Painting my carbon fiber hood

Hey ppl, I am thinking about getting a carbon fiber hood for my 02 maxima. I want to paint them so ppl won't know I have a carbon fiber hood. Can someone tell me if I can just paint over them or they must be sand down. Replies is aprecciated. Thanx

Yes, the CF hood will need to be scuffed before the new paint is applied otherwise it will not stick to good. All that the paint shop will probably do is scuff it down with a wet piece of scotchbrite. You have to make sure to give the new paint a good surface to bite onto. By scuffing you have created this surface. Picture spray painting over a piece of glass? It wouldnt stick to well & eventually peel right off!!!

Dont waste your money on a CF hood if you're going to ruin it by painting it!. If you want your car to be lighter thats one thing but a BIG part of getting a CF hood is for the look. Save your money and lighten your car another way.
