Caliper Paint... spray or brush?
Caliper Paint... spray or brush?
I've seen caliper paint both spray-on and the kind that is painted on with a brush... is either one better quality? does the brushed kind stay better? is the spray more metallic or glossy?

Brush is way better but much more expensive. the kit that i've always used is a mixture which will make the paint kinda rubbery when cured. it is much more durable then caliper spray paints that i have used. the kit will come with 2 solutions that are mixed right before use, a can of brake cleaner and brush. i ordered my stuff from southwest autoworks. hope this helps.

Go for the G2 kit. Looks as close to powdercoat as I can imagine a caliper paint job can get. It's a little more expensive then other paints but when you see it's quality you won't be dissapointed. I ordered my kit from tirerack.com
I went cheap and ghetto and used high temp black BBQ paint (stuff i had left over from the anniversary headlight mod) and it worked fine for me. With spray paint, because it goes on thin compared to enamel (very thick) you don't really have to tape up the rotor - you can directly spray onto the caliper while it is on the rotor. So I guess another plus when using spray is that there is less prep time. But I seriously think that spray will never make it look like the way the paint is on the wilwood or brembo paint.
The G2 stuff is great - it's super thick, very tough, and has a nice shine to it (and customer service is excellent). Like desperado said, though...please don't do it in red - you don't want to call too much attention to the maxima's puny OEM calipers!
