trimming bumpstops with tokico illumina's

i just got my illumina's today and am going to put them in my car with my H&R's sometime this week. i've been told that the manufacturer of the strut will specify what to trim the bumpstops to, if at all, but there isn't any literature with my struts. i see on housecor's web page(which is great BTW) that he trimmed his but it also says that someone with a moderate drop like mine (1.4" front/1.3" rear) may not need it. What should i do?

I got H&R to on my car and plus I live in NY too, trust me, cut them now that way you could save money!!!!!!!! Just think of everytime you hit one of those good NYC bumps, your cars suspension will make a boop kinda sound everytime.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Does anyone have any pictures of before and after the trimming of the bumpstop? I'd like to know as well. Not familiar with it.

this is what the bumpstop looks like.

just pull it out of the dustboot and trim whatever the spring manafact suggests from the bottom of it.

iirc eibachs are one of the most modest drops available, mine being a close 2nd. if you trimmed yours and are happy with the ride then trimming mine would probably be a good idea.

the only problem i have with Housecor's How-To is that he is cutting the top of both the dustboot and bumpstop. i would recommend taking the bumpstop out of the dustboot and cut the bottom of the bumpstop. that way it will be more flush against the tophat when you put everything back together. plus you will have more of a seal to prevent more water or grit getting in between the assembly.

does Energy Suspension have an application for our cars? would it be a good alternative to trimming the oem bumpstops?
