size of hoses around the gas tank
The vent hose of my gas tank is leaking gas every time I fill up the gas tank. So, I want to replace this hose, but I don't have a clue about the size (i.e. diameter) of it. My guess is that it is about 8mm, but I am not sure.
Does someone here know what diameter are the 3-4 short hoses (including the vent hose, to the tank-neck)?
I'd hate to lower the tank and remove the hoses just for measuring the size, then put the whole enchilada back, go to the parts store by the right hose then do the whole thing all over. I only have one car.

I have no idea of the size, but you should just lower the tank and take off the hose. Once you got it measured, you can just put the new hose back in.....just requires another means of transportation.

Pete,
Thanks for your valuable ($225) but late tipp, I made a weak attempt of removing the fuel tank last weekend, but I gave up on it because I was doing it on the street and it was just too much of a task to do such work on the street.
So, I ended up taking the car to a AAA aproved repair shop next to my workplace and they did it for $225 (labor:$100, parts: $125 including tax), that I think was a major rip off for a few OEM made rubber hoses, not mentioning the labor cost if you can really do the whole thing without removing the fuel tank, it shouldn't take more than an hour if you have a hoist.
Again, thanks again for the great tipp,

Your right, if all they had to replace were the hoses then you did get 'hosed'. There may have been broken steel passthrogh lines in your sending unit however and if that be the case you got a fair deal, IF that be the case. Pete Shafer
I found the leak today but suspect its been there for awhile now. Bad gas mileage only when I fill up the tank. I saw as I parked my car. Under the driver side rear bumper. It was just dripping a litte pile of gas. So how much hose do you need to fix this? What was the seal you metioned?
