I just bought a Greddy evo2 for my 2000...one question

Has anyone installed it in a 2000 fed spec max?
I was told I need to weld an O2 sensor to the Greddy.
Can anyone confirm this?
65k miles and the pipe rusted out right before my muffler and this seemed to be the best replacement since no one carries 2k+ mufflers locally and the factory costs more than the Greddy

Yeah I put my EVO1 on 2 summers ago. You have to have a bung hole welded into the B pipe for the O2 sensor just after the cat. Other than that, it's a bolt on. You're lucky...FULL stainless.

On the bung weld, got mine done at a muffler shop for $15. This is after a friend and I installed the system and I drove around with the O2 sensor zip stripped to the bottom of the car for about 2 days with the SES light on.

The muffler on mine did the same same thing, rusted right through. I didn't replace the whole system, just the rear section.

Yeah I think you should be fine if you're cali spec.

I just spent Sunday masking the welds and spraying the welds with 1200 degree high heat engine paint w/ceramic. We'll see this works out. I really hated sseing them hack into that stainless system.

It sounds like the Cali spec doesn't need the Bung and the Fed spec needs it?
What is the easiest way to find out which one I have without getting under the car?

The only O2 sensor I saw last time I was under the car was directly under the engine. I assume the sensor that needs the bung is further back?

Open your hood and look in front of your engine just below where it says "V6 3000" on the plastic cover. You should see some wire harness connections. If you see only 2 (on the right side) then you car is Fed Spec.
If you see 4 connections, then you're Cali Spec. Simple as that.

Gr8bone, the sensor that needs the bung is off of your b-pipe less than a foot after your cat.

I have 4 so I am Cali spec. Which spec needs the bung? And if I need the bung does a hole need to be cut in my pipe for the bung? thanks

right infront of the valve cover- front one there are 4 plugs- 2 green and 2 gray ones- these are for the 4 O2 sensors the cali specs have. Federal spec ones have just 2 plugs there. Cali spec has no O2 sensor behind the main cat- I didn't weld in no 02 sensor bungs onto my Greddy EVO. I have the www.02simlator.com installed on my car since I don't have any cats and I would get check engine lights every 5 days for catalyst efficency bellow threshold.
