Do plasma bulbs melt the headlight housing?

Anyone had this happen, I called the dealership several years ago and was told by the technician that gas charged bulbs would melt the headlight housing and the small silver cover over the bulb so I stayed away from them. I'm currently running sylvania cool blue halogens but would like to change. Sorry if this has been beaten to death but I can't search.

There is not real plasma in the bulb and most bulbs (including stock) are gas filled. Dealers telling stories again

Have used Plasma, Plasma GTX and the new 7500K PIAA bulb, no problem at all. Piaa bulbs often last about 2~2.5 year.

just stay at 55 watt bulbs, any higher could melt the light housing.

Sometimes, don't believe on what the Nissan tech tells ya. As long as you stay within the same wattage bulbs as your factory bulbs, you should be fine. I've been using PIAA bulbs for all my cars ever since I got my license and never had problem with having my harness melting.
