How many quarts of Tranny Fluid for 2k3se?

Hi,

I decided to change my tranny fluid like everyone else and can't find my owners manual. How many quarts do I use to drop and refill for a 2K3SE AUTO?

Also has anyone had this problem with their Maxima; during the hot summer, I have the AC on and when I'm idling the car seems to idle down for a few seconds and sounds like its going to stall but doesn't. It happened to me twice already and I have no clue of what this is. The engine seems that it is shaking like it is choking or something.

Thank You!

The Nissan FSM does not give a specified refill quantity. It lists the capacity as 9 quarts for the 02 Max SE with the RE4F04B transmission. It only says to refill with same volume as drained fluid. I guess you'll need to measure what you drained to get some idea. I have no idea about your other concern.

He only mentioned drain and refill and not a flush. If he were to go by your number, he would overfill his tranny.

Drain into an empty oil drain pan...funnel it into an empty milk jug or two...for each milk jug full, add 4 qts back.

there is no set number of quarts for a drain and refill. you could get anywhere from 4.5 to closer to 6.5 quarts. you will get more out and closer to 6.5 if you drop the pan after the fluid begins just dripping from the drain plug. just have a container to empty into that you can measure the fluid or be able to pour into another container that has some sort of measurement. just replace what you took out. if you do drop the pan, then clean the pan and the magnets that sit on the bottom. check the screen to check for tears or buildup and either replace or clean it.

Thank you guys. I'm going to drain it and see if I can pour it into an empty windshield washer container and figure out how much I need to refill back.

I was wondering how many quarts I need to purchase so I am not short of it after I empty it out.

if you are not droppping the pan then i would get 6. that way you will most likely use 5 and have 1 for a spare. if dropping it then id get 8 and still have 1 for a spare. i always keep one quart of mobil 1 atf and mobil 1 5w-30 in the trunk.
