ok so i went out today to run errands and so i started the car then ran in to the house to grab somethhing and noticed the engine was extra loud this morning, like usually its quiet, but today it sounded like the fans were on and like everything was just louder, but i hadnt even moved it yet. i know this is a vauge post but i am curious what to do to thry and make it quiet again. I am afraid it might be on its way out just cause its been noisy like this for a few weeks. It gets driven hard cause here the only way you can survive around here is by driving hard to get to where you want to cause no one cares to let you in etc etc. I have 150k on the originonal everything and did spark plugs and wires prob about 6k ago. any ideas i might be able to record it with my camera, but i would need a host or just mail it to someone engine savyy. HELP, i dont wanna spend anymore money until i figure this out.

exhaust manifold studs broken?

mine are car is loud as anything.

 

any other ideas, im going to check for an exhaust leak tom, and also wen u put my car in reverse there is a loud click/clank sound, but only when i go from ark to revesre, is my tranny going? this is added to the facvt that when u punch it and it drops into second, that it wont shift into 3rd unless u take ur foot off the gass, it just keeps goooing up in rpms

 

when I started on my permit, the Maxima was loud as I dunno what. I took it to my uncle to fix it because I thought it was the manifold studs, but I was wrong. He replaced $200 worth of miscellaneous pipes in the engine and it went back to being quiet. Maybe you should get it checked out. Yea, and the tranny slipping between 2nd and 3rd, thats happening to me too. try changing the tranny fluid and see how much better it gets. I believe, sadly, that my tranny is goin wayside, and I'm gonna need to replace it.
