95-96 AE Headlights (pics)

I recently bought these from 95SEmaxSkyline (great guy). I finished installing them yesterday with some minor difficulty. Anyway, they look great and really make my front end look SWEET! Here are some pics I took. I plan to post more later when I can get her a good wash. Tell me what you think

I think that they look great, esp. on the black. I did mine too and it is a subtle mod that makes a difference. Nice work!

looks good.

for those that have not done it, use 97-99 clear lens for a more dramatic rather than subtle look. Light output is marginally better as well...

good luck.

They look good but i'm too afraid to do them. I don't want condensation in them afterward.

I like that, man. I plan to convert my front end here pretty soon. When I get my 97 headlights, I'll do the AE mod to my 96 ones, to see how it looks and to get some practice with it. Anyone want to buy them from me?

Marginally better...? If you put 97-99 plastic lense on 95-96 housing light output will get marginally WORSE! (95-96 headlights are using the lense to focus the beam and 97-99 are using the housing design for that purpose. So outcome is clear.

I bought them from SE95Maxskyline, PM him to see if he'll make you a set. As far as getting the 97-99 headlights, I wanted to stick with the 95-96 cuz I wanted to keep the glass headlights.

Luke, I plan on putting my plate back on soon. Someone scratched the hell out of my bumper so I got it repainted. Been too busy to put it back on.

I was going to comment that your bumper looked awfully clean for a front bumper on a 96.

The lights look good, man. I like the way that looks on the black cars.

Why did you say you wanted to stick with the glass headlight housings? The plastic is better.

Keep up the good work.

To do the bottom valences, you need to use zip ties. Wrap the ties around the vertical vents in the bumper. It's pretty tricky but with patience anything is possible. If you check out my website, I have the mesh in all 3 places. I'll take some close ups for you once I install the 3rd piece. I ran out of zip ties but I plan on installing the 3rd mesh this weekend.

i tried that but I wasn't diggin' it. It didn't look that good. I'll try to find the pics i took when I did that. I'm planning on getting the Dark trim clear corners from Custom maxima....i think It'll look good with the AE headlight and clearance lights.

I went to Imperio Auto Shop. It's near Miami Airport. They do really good work and are very professional! This place came highly recommended by a friend that works at Williamson Cadillac/Hummer

Looks good, but it looks 10x better with the 97-99 lights as the lenses are much clearer

i kno for a civic the type-r's had this type of lighting effect so the us civic guys would do this.

sorry i'm just not feeling it on a max and then the side lense is still clear. i have this done on my civic and looks great

A.E. stands for Anniversary Edition. We do it because 4th gen max owners do not have that many options when it comes to headlights. Some people, like myself, have done the side lights to match.

Looks Good,
I agree with Max96LSU, I used the 95-96 units just to stay with glass pieces.
Max96LSU,also I dont think the tinted Clear corners are available anymore.
You may just want to buy some cheap 15.00 ebay ones and tint them yourself.

Yeah I saw that they were out of stock. Hopefully they'll get more, otherwise I'll go to ebay like you said and try to make them myself.

Custom Maxima does not make them. They are just a distributer.
Redlinemax sold them as well.
They havent gotten any in in a long time, and may not for a while! Thats why I said their no longer available.
