What’s your experience with the spot-free rinse at the self-serve car wash? Does it actually work? Any tips? I’ve always used a chamois, but I wouldn’t mind not ever having to manually dry my car again. And I don’t really want to use the Mr. Clean AutoDry Car Wash.

It works pretty good. I usually have to take a towel or whatever to wipe off a few water spots but it's nothing major.

 

best place to ask would be the detailing section...

 

The spot-free rinse is expensive distilled water. It works okay. And why don't you want to try the AutoDry? It's not a new concept (de-ionized water), but it's not a gimmick and truly does work.

i've used it on my car (spot free rinse at DIY carwash places), always leaves me with tons of water spots

 

mr. clean auto dry works...i use it everytime i wash my car.its not lying in the commercial when the cars spotless.trust me.

 

how much is the Mr. Clean auto dry? and how often do you have to change the filter? isn't there a filter?

 

The spot free rinse at my local car washes is pointless. It doesn't leave as many water spots, and the spots left are smaller, but it's not like "you'll never dry your car again!" If you want the easiest approach, listen to the masses and check out Mr. Clean Auto Dry System. I think it's between $30 - $40, and the filter system is like that in PuR water filtration devices.

 

When I bought my Mr Clean, it was like $20 at Kmart and if you go to their website, they have a $3 off coupon. The filter it comes with lasts for 3 washes and the replacements last for 10. People shouldnt knock this before they try it. Just because it has Mr Clean on it instead of Meguiars doesnt mean its bad. It works. Good product.

 

how does mr clean work on mud and water spots?

 

what about just a solution you put in your water for deterring water spots, anyone have any suggestions that work pretty well?

 

I dont think it would work well with mud because the pressure of everything is pretty low. I'd try to blast of as much mud without the thing on the hose first. I thought it worked pretty well on water spots.

 

Another thing that works remarkably well for reducing spots: when you do your final rinse, take off the sprayer, fold the hose to choke the water down to about half, and run it from the tops of panels (along the roof line, top of the trunk and hood). This way it sheets off. Maybe this is obvious to most people, but I hadn't heard of it, and was surprised to find that it drastically reduced my drying time.

Spot free rinse at the car wash is horrible, it doesnt work at all. Mr. Clean auto dry on the other hand is great.
