Help! Can't find my ECU Diagnostic Test Mode Selector

Hi, I have a 99 Maxima SE, recently I have the Check Engine light came on, I thought it was an easy fix because I just replaced the fuel filter, and that might set off the light. Anyway, when I exposed the ECU and peel off the warning sticker, I couldn't locate the screw I was supposed to turn. It's very weird, I've had a 98 Maxima before so I have used the screw to reset the MIL light before. I cannot post any pictures because I don't have a way of doing it, if anyone is willing to post pictures for me, please let me know as well. I am not stupid or new, anyone knows what's going on? I don't want to pay someone $75 just to read the code for me, I can do it myself with the screw. Thanks in advance.

I push a 99 SE-L, and after removing the panel, I found a warning sticker saying something to the effect of "test idle...low - high...". There was no sticker saying anything about "self diagnosis". This may be a dumb question, but I'll ask anyway...is the "Service Engine Soon" light the same as the "Check Engine" light? My SES light came on at 123K, and I wanted to do the self test, but I have the same dilemma as the person above. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and thanks much in advance.

Yes.................

Read the stickies again and again.

BTW you can go to AutoZone or O'Rielly's and they will read them for free.. Which is what you need to do.

I've heard the 99's use the plastic screw. May as well just go to autozone (so you don't f up the screw).

So I was right? I tried to turn the plastic screw and couldn't. Anyway, I am going to go to Autozone and get the code. Thanks!
