Regreasing starter could use some help

Regreasing starter could use some help

I took the actual starter apart tonight and a powder like substance came out and is this normal? And am i supposed to use an actual grease or is it a grafite type of material. Where am i supposed to pack with grease also. thanks

The powder you mentioned is probably a mixture of dust, dirt, and dried grease that have accumulated over time.

Make sure you clean out the gears before adding new high temp grease.

Mine was like that too. I just used grease. I ended up replacing mine anyway

Well i put new grease in and put everything back in and all i heard was a click now it won't start. I guess i have to rip it open again.

The power wire goes on top and ground on bottom right??
