Silverstar H3's
Silverstar H3's
I just saw these are available. Has anyone tried them in their fogs? How might they compare with PIAA Super Plasma's?
I was going to order some PIAA's, but there have been a few threads (again) about how quickly the PIAA's burn out.

here's a shot of the silverstar h3 fogs. definitely whiter than stock, but as you can see not exactly a match to the stock hids. can't say much about the reliability, but no probs in the two months i've used em.

Thanks for the pic, BP_3.5. Have you tried any other bulbs in your fogs?
They look much whiter than stock, for sure and a better match for the HID's. It will be interesting to see how long they last.

808MAX - i got the fogs from autozone. don't remember the exact amount but they were around $20 each and the last two on display.
Bluesbrekr - these are the first aftermarket fogs i've used. hopefully they last for a while, it'd be annoying to have to take it all apart every other month.

Here are a few pics of the fogs that i have installed... they are a very close if not perfect match to the hids. The pics kind of stink, but you get the idea from them.

below is a one stock bulb (left) and one new bilb. (right) huge improvement.

BTW, the bulbs are PIAA super plasma bulbs.

Not too long.... maybe about a month or so. I have heard that the bulbs i have burn out after 6-12 months, so i do not turn them on too much. they do not light up the road to much more, but the sure do lokn damn nice.

I have PIAA Xtreme white H3's for about 7 months now with no problem. I hope they don't burn out, but I bet people touch the bulbs a lot before installing them making them burn out so early.
Silverstars aren't too great in rain, look great from outside, don't seem as effective as other bulbs, and tned to have short life (my buddy has Silverstar headlights/fogs...one headlight burned out after 1.5 years); But for the price and availability they are hard to beat.

N/p man... but have fun getting those bulbs out! it was a pita... i got home when it was dark, and the bulbs were fianlly delived to me. but i had to take off all the plastic underpanels, and then try to find the bolts for the fog lights. it was not fun. i tried doing with out jacking up the car, but i couldn't... especially since the car is lowered with a body kit. it took me a good 2 hours to swap them out... so i am not looking forward to having to replace them again.

oh, and if you want some parking light bulbs to complete the look, then get the bulbs i have. they are #921 9 led super white led bulbs that are a very close match to the hids... looks awsome when everything is turned on.

I had the feeling that they would be a pita to replace. Too bad the HIDs arent as secured as the fog lamps, huh.

Thanks!

Here are regular hyper white H3 bulbs from Autozone on the left compared to PIAA super plasma's on the right. PIAA's look a lot better at night!! I've had them for 3 months now and no problems yet.
