Silverstar bulbs from Osram, claimed to be the brightest, whitest, and sharpest???

Autozone's selling new bulbs from Osram Sylvania.

They're called Silverstar, sells for $25 a piece. They claim it to be a lot brighter than coolblues or standard halogens, and the packaging is pretty neat too

I went to the website to see if they had info, all they had was:
SYLVANIA also offers Cool Blue, XtraVision and Halogen Plus headlights. Coming this fall is Silverstar, the whitest, brightest, sharpest halogen on the road.
I tried a search on Yahoo, and found this from Sylvania: http://www.sylvania.com/auto/silverstar.htm
You can see charts, photos and misc information on the bulbs at the websute above (this info is the same I saw in Autozone)

Anyone tried them yet? I'm planning to get VisionPlus bulbs soon, but if these 'Silverstar' bulbs get the Org's 2 thumbs up, I might go for it instead (though it's $25 a piece = $50 a pair).

If anyone has em, gimme your opinions, and some pics would be nice too. Thanks

I noticed that the VisionPlus bulbs have a higher lumen rating:
Output: 1,590
Power: 57.2W
Geometry: OK
75m: 34.5 50m kerb: 57.7
50m centre: 28.6
Overall beam: 155.4
(info above from http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/doctork...are.php3?id=84)

The Silverstar only has 700/1200 lumens for the 9004 bulb. How does that make it brighter? Whiter maybe, but brighter?

*bump - anyone?

Kashoggio, they all do, but these are from OSRAM, and in some sense, they have a more reputable brand.

Compared to Ultra XGlow Neuron Krypton bulbs, guaranteed to be brighter, whiter and better.

unless you go over-wattage then you'll never get the results you want. It's a simple fact that 55watts produces 55watts of power. This means that you CAN change the direction and color of the lighting, but if you really want to have a brighter light without paying in other areas then you'll need a wire harness upgrade and some 80/100 watt bulbs.

Aren't you comparing an H7 versus the SilverStar 9004?
The light output is going to be different just because of the different bulb design.

I've looked around for these bulbs because I'm going to be doing a 9004 headlight comparison. I've ordered three pairs of bulbs from JC whitnet, I have Piaa superwhite and blue visions, and also my stock pair. I looked around my area for these and I could find them at all.

breaux124:
The heading for the page said H7, but I believe the VisionPlus bulbs were 9004, I guess I could be wrong. Didn't read the fine print
Both Soon2BMaxed and I saw the bulbs at Autozone, I went to few other auto stores and din't find the Silverstar's, just the OSRAM HID kits.

theblue:
Yuppos, overwattage + harness upgrade is the best way to get brighter, but if we were just looking at stock wattage, which one is prefered? I know VisionPlus is highly recommended (or Piaa but more $$$), but how does the new Silverstar rank? WOn't know til someone tries em out I suppose.

I don't think you can get the vision plus in a 9004 size. I've look online and I can't find anyone that sells the vision plus in a 9004, so I'm not sure if they are available for 4th gens.

although these bulbs don't use more wattage

than stock, they will look brighter b/c of the high color temp (4000K). i think the standard HIDS color temp is ~4300K, so these silverstars will appear very bright, but don't really improve lighting compared to coolblues, bluevision, etc.

but for $25 a piece, i'll stick with my PIAA's
