anyone here own a BMW with a manual tranny?

if so, could you do me a HUGE favor?
I have heard that BMW manual shift ***** will fit on the 2000-2001 maxima 5sp. shifter....and I found a sweet **** that's made to fit BMWs (no, doesn't say BMW on it or anything) that I would get if I knew it fit....

if anyone has a 5sp Bimmer and a 5sp max "handy" would REALLY appreciate it if you could see if your shifters are interchangeable...

thanks guys I know this is a wierd request!

With enough improvization you can make it fit. There is absolutely nothing mechanical in the piece of plastic to prevent it from being customized... If it's (the max shifter assembly ) too big, you can drill it (the ****). If it's too small, you can jam spacers/plastic/steel block and drill out etc. As far as being a direct fit can't offer any opinion on that.

Anyone that puts a ///M shift **** on their Maxima may as well throw on some Type R and VTEC badges to go along with it.

thanks for your oh-so-helpful response in answering my question....I take it you do not own a BMW you can try out for me, then?

I wouldn't think of getting one with the M logo on it....I would get one with either plain black top plate or just the 5-sp grid (our version, not the BMW version)....these ***** aren't FROM an M3, they are made to FIT an M3.....

Hey thanks to the guys who are trying to ANSWER my question....as to the rest, read the original post, I'm not asking for opinions on what **** everyone likes....I'm asking about fit...

Yeah, I put my dad's 2002 M5 shift **** on my max. I also wired it so the top glows red at night. It was a B*TCH. This def. is not plug and play. I first had to file down the little ring inside the ****, cut down my shift bar by about 2", wrap double sided golf grip tape around the bar and slide it on. Then i had to sew the leatyher part to the bar frame inside the console. This sounds ghetto, but it is the sweetest looking shift ****. I'll post pics here when i get a chance

the company offers a "selection" of top plates with various shift patterns and/or the ///M logo...
