Can someone explain the 5th gen fuel rail?

I'm putting a '00 manifold on my '96 and was wondering how the 5th gen fuel rail worked in comparison to the 4th gen. Thanks.

hmmmm.....what do you mean "how it works".....I would imagine they work the same, thought the spacing and fitting size may differ.......

I think I understand what you mean. The fuel rail is just a distribution manifold to pipe fuel to the injectors. So if you can fit it back together, then I would guess you have no other worries because one is the same as the other in function.

A 4th gen has one FPR. A 5th gen has what looks like two. They are basically the same thing, a distribution tube, but they work slightly different. Just wondering if anyone could explain the need for 2 FPR, if that's what both of them are.

You are going to have to PM SR20DEN or our moderator IceY2K1 as your best bet to get an answer on that one.

I think the 5th gen fuel rail has 1 FPR, and some other nodes that are actually dampers to smooth out the fluid flow... or something like that.
