City driving = 25.6 mpg

Filled up today and with only city driving I got 25.6 mpg on this tank. 380 miles and it took 14.86 gallons. Much better gas mileage after the new o2 sensors. I was happy to pay $2.08/gallon for 94 with that kind of mileage.

Damn that is a very good # for a 2k2. Especially being it all city. AND especially being it automatic.

I get about 20mpg all city in my 6spd. That includes a few WOT runs here and there. But I bet even if i drove like a granny, I'll still see nowhere near 25mpg. Does anybody get 20mpg all city in there 6spds? I'm bone stock btw

I don't believe it. It's way too good to be true. There's must be some error in your calculation. Or you didn't even need to stop in all your city street?

I agree. I could only wish for that with all highway driving and I have a 6sp.

Thats way high for a 3.5 anything especially auto during city driving, go to 350z.com/G35driver.com and they average about 16-18 city like us. These cars drink gas and time that needle leaves F it drops like a falling rock the 350Z is the same way.

How about this. 50% of my driving is in the CITY OF CHICAGO's Downtown area. 15% is highway, and 35% is northshore suburbs driving. (Lots of lights) I averaged 23.6 on my last tank. (Personal calculation: miles/gallons) Normally I am between 22-25 on any given fill up.

My trips consist of very short ones (5-8 miles or less). And its basically ALL city. I think that kills my gas mileage because I turn off my car alot...

This one time I drove about 25% highway and 75% short city trips.....I got about 20.5mpg....But while I was on the highway I was doing 80mph the whole way in 6th gear....Does 20.5mpg sound right for a 2k2 6spd with 25/75 city and highway respectively?

Sometimes I see people posting astounding #s for mpg and they are city too. How do you guys do that? I usually never see higher than 20mpg all city. Usually its 18-19mpg

I've was getting about 18-19 MPG with mostly under 50 MPH driving. Now with using Amsoil 5W-30 motor oil and Amsoil ATf, with Berk intake running about 33psi in the tires, i get 20-21.
Now, on a recent trip through the Carolinas (2,070 miles in 7 days) I consistently got 27-28.5 MPG on the interstate doin 70-80 MPH. Actually got 27.75 MPG on a 300 mile leg with the AC running the whole time. So for what it's worth there ya go.

I have a 16 mile one-way trip to work which is freeway. On this last tank of gas, most of my driving was back and forth to work, but being that its only 16 miles, would you consider that actually freeway? I set my cruise at 68 mph on the freeway and I don't go WOT around every turn. Keep in mind that earlier in the summer I posted on here where I drove my car from Columbus to Cleveland and back in one day and only used 1/2 tank of gas which was around 300 miles. You don't have to do 80mph on the freeway all the time. And no, there is no error in my calculation.

I'm definitely not a slow driver, and the highway consists of usually 80mph or traffic. Nice smart *** comment though.

i get like 18-20mpg all city with my 2k

gas gauge is not accurate at all...i can drive around on e for days. if i fill up when its on 1/4 tank it will take like 10 gallons. that leaves 8.5 gallons left. thats closer to half a tank then 1/4.

Don't forget, your fuel pump uses the gas as a coolant. You're better of filling up more often.

More air available for engine = more fuel being consumed. The car is trying to keep the Air/Fuel ratio in balance.

By the way, I've always had a truck, and I really want to make this car fast, what do I do for quick gains that won't hurt my wallet. I'm saving turbo/supercharger for later.
