WOW 30MPG in 3.5, but why then Toyota sucks

Just went for a 250 mile drive. Highway driving, speed of ~80mph all the way. Got an avrg. of 30MPG. Cool. But why camry gets the same MPG VVT-i 4-cylinder , 2.4 L?

Well I too believe the toyota's quality is very good, but why 2.5 lit. engine has the same gas milage as 3.5l engine. Not according to my trip computer, but even according to my own calculations and Nissan.

I don't know about you guys, but my trip computer always overestimates my mpg by 2-3 mpg. Now I just divide the # of miles I do by the gallons I've used up. Then I compare the number to my trip computer.

It all depends on how you drive it- I had an 04 Camry for a rental not even two weeks ago and I was getting 33-34 mpg on a trip to Mass- with alot of city driving in Boston

The camry BTw has the disadvantage in power to weight ratio -so 30-35mpg is good for any car in the market

It's definitely how you drive it. To get the camry up to speed and to pass you have to step into it allot harder than you would the 3.5. The Maxima is probably geared much higher too.

yea the camry is probably just workin harder to accelerate to 80 and stay there, while having the extra hp means the max has to strain much less, and i dunno if you have a 6 spd but wouldn't that also help

Hey
I get 215 miles to 15 gallons (the gasoline light goes on) Most of it is city milleage and about 25% is highway. It is eating a lot of gas. I have a heavy foot but I think somethings off.

00 5 speed @ 80 mph I get, with AC on, 28 mpg. That's tabulated by dividing miles driven into tank (ie. not an estimator).

So as people are saying, that max can give us a very good MPG, then whats the point in buying camry to save on gas, none...

I have an average 22 MPG from 2 years ago. That mix hwy and city but I only drive 10 mnt to work each day. But still that's bad.

camry's have better resale values than maxima's... that's about the only thing i see. so it's good to buy a camry new and good to buy a maxima used.

i cant even get 200 miles per tank. maxed out at 185 miles then the empty light comes on. Something is wrong with my car or it's just nyc.
