How much can a SE w/ a 5-sp tow?

I want to add a 1 7/8" hitch to my Max to tow my boat, I am guessing it weights in the 1,500 to 2,000 lbs (a 17' fiberglass Lund with a 80 hp outboard engine).

Has anyone done this? Recommendations?

Buy a cheap truck, I wouldnt tow with a Maxima. I have a boat also, but tow it with a truck, you are going to get your trunk wet on the launch ramp with a Maxima, depending on your boat, trailer and if you have a prop.

that's a small hitch to carry that much weight.

Good point...I didn't think about the back end when launching the boat.

We used to tow my boat with the RWD Ford T-bird, we even got the rear wheels in the water, never had a problem with that. Only problem we did have was the fuses for the signals blowing, cuz we forgot to disconnect the trailer wiring harness from the car before launching the boat.

I was looking into getting stiffer or maybe slightly taller rear springs to make it work right.

How about a small trailer for carrying wheels and slicks?

To the poster, if you did tow that much weight I would think it would be really hard on the clutch.

You're crazy man. I don't think I'd tow that with a maxima.

To tow that much, you'd need atleast a Class 2 hitch. Anyone here ever remember a Class 2 hitch going onto a Maxima?

Get a Nissan Truck. If you don't want to spend that much, get the older D21's with the V6. Plenty of power to pull. If you get the right years, with the vented hood in front. You can run RAM air off of it. I did with mine, ohh, that baby had a sweet sound to it. LOL.
