Im not sure what you mean by "pressure wash," but I cleaned my engine bay using a garden hose on full 'pressure.' Its pretty easy, but make sure you cover up the vitals of the engine like a cone filter (if you have one), the battery terminals, sparkplugs, alternator, etc...You should check out the stickies-they have lots of detailing info. I bought engine degeaser from wal-mart for a $1. You just spray all over the engine, let it sit for 10-15 minds and hose it off. Check out the results:

VG powa!! Garden hose yes... Pressure wash NO!!!!

You dont want water at that kind of pressure on your engine where it can get into any kind of electrical terminal. sad but true I used to work at an auto parts store and there was a gas station with a pressure washer next door. Some guy in a 4th Gen brought his car there and had the engine bay pressure washed... it turned on for about a minute and turned off... it wouldnt turn on again. he eventually had it towed...

You'd be fine if you do what BensMax93 suggests.

I'm not much of an engine bay detailer, but I would never use a pressure washer to clean an engine bay.

Judicious use of degreaser, a soft brush, and a garden hose should do it.

Spray Simple Green, stay away from the vitals like it was stated earlier, garden hose with the pressure **** off and use the old thumb over the end trick to direct a little water pressure. Cleans up nicely.

Of course, I haven't done this in a while because I have a dealer nearby that washes, waxes (hand and machine), does the windows inside, armor alls, vacuums and shampoos interior + trunk, shines the wheels and chemical cleans the engine for a hundred bucks. Better use of my time and money to let them have at it once a year

Can I get a piece of this? Here are my before and after pic. First I spray engine degreaser, and after letting it soak for a few minutes I scrub with a brillo pad. It's the engine bay we're talking about so I wasn't concern about the fine scratches the brillo pad might make. After my first scrubbing then I used Simple Green, let that soak for a few minutes then started the scrubbing again. Finally I used a garden hose and rinse.

You can pressure wash an engine, you just have to do what Ben said, cover up the "vitals"....
