has anyone hooked one of these up to the VE ? i have the sending unit but im not sure where it screws into ??

 

i wish i could help u but i dunno, but when you do figure it out can you do a lil write up or something cause i dunno where to put it and hook it up. i know i have a vg and yours is a ve but im hopinjg i can use yours to figure mine out

 

you need an adapter for 1/8 BSPT to 1/8 NPT.

if you want to keep the stock sensor happy you'll need to run a Tee.

 

seems you have some knowledge on the subject. not to sound stupid but whats BSPT and NPT and im assuming i need a 1/8 tee. plastic or metal ? slide on or compression fittings ? where is the connection that needs to be made on the ve for the sender. If i can find it ill do a nice write up with pics for everyone if i can get the info i need to install it properly...

before i give u what you need to do...you should really research the part before you buy it.

ok the thread on your engine block is 1/8 BSPT female.
your aftermkt pressure gauge is 1/8 NPT male.
your stock pressure gauge is 1/8 BSPT male.

here are your choices...
1. if you want to toss the stock sensor and run just the aftermkt one you need a 1/8 BSPT male to 1/8 NPT female. figure out how to shut the light off and you're done.

2. if you want to keep both the stock and new sensor gauge then you need to run a Tee fitting.
T fittings are usually 1 male and 2 females....all NPT.
so here's what you need...
from the block... male 1/8 BSPT to female 1/8 NPT.
now screw in the T and you have 2 NPT female ports.
screw the aftermkt gauge to one of the NPT ports. to keep the stock gauge happy you need to convert that 1/8 NPT (off the T) to 1/8 female BSPT.
so you'll need a 1/8 NPT male to 1/8 BSPT female. screw in the stock gauge into that and you're all set.

so that's your write up. if you feel the need to copy it and claim that's your info...go for it..i don't really care.

where on the block is the stock sender plugged into ?

 

the stock sender is screwed into the oil filter housing which is obviously right above the oil filter or right below the A/C compressor

I highly recommend remote mounting the tee and both sensors to a secure spot such as the firewall or under the cowl somewhere. The vibration from all that mass will crack a brass tee and adapter that are not braced off the block. Run a short length of -4an braided line from the block to where you mount your tee and sensors. I have seen people waste $2000 race motors because they didn't want to take an extra precaution.

 

if the stock sensor hasnt broken in 11 years why would it go now ? the addition of the tee will break the car ? im sure other people here have oil pressure gauges on their VE....DANNY you have PM....

 

Yes. The additional mass of a tee and aftermarket sender (plus stock sender), plus the added distance off the block plus the fact that brass is very soft can result in the tee or adapters failing due to excessive vibration, causing a 65-75 PSI oil leak. That would take very little time to cause massive damage. I'm not saying the sensor would fail, I'm saying it's highly likely that the brass would crack. I've seen this happen MANY times. I have been building race motors for many years and have seen customers install their own turbo feed lines and gauge senders without remote mounting them and totally waste their motors. Just my 2 cents.

leverage ? i agree a 65psi oil leak would kill my VE. i just misunderstood what you said. I just may have to do that i need this car for one more year then im onto the 5.5 gen.....

 

i got a bk face and a silver oil pressure for sle or trade if someone needs it..

 

the leverage of 2 senders on the brass tee vibrating to the motor will break the tee after a while.
