Replaced front struts, now steering makes sound
Replaced front struts, now steering makes sound
Hey guys,
I confiscated a '92 GXE from my younger sister, who didn't wash it for 4 months in NYC winter. I had gotten KYB GR-2 struts, but I got wrong boots, so I put this on hold.
Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the lower spring seat on the driver's side strut was rotted out, and one day, while trying to drive out of my driveway, I heard a "THUMP" and the car was bottomed out. I jacked it up to see that the spring had broken the lower spring seat and the bottom had hit and was resting on the knuckle...
Anyway, I just replaced the strut with new KYB strut, KYB boot, KYB bearing, KYB strut mount.
It took a loong time (3.5 hours) because I had wimpy spring compressors and I ran out of daylight...
ANYWAY, the car seemed fine, test drive was okay. But when I got back, I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel more than two turns to the right, and then turn it back to left, I hear a grinding thump/clank sound from the driver's front wheel (the side where I just did the struts). I am pretty sure that I did everything fine. I am wondering if anyone knows what this could be?
I am wondering if it is the control arm/ball joint, but then I am praying that it's not damage to the steering rod or anything like that.
I'd really appreciate any help before I actually start buying control arm and ball joints...
Thank you for any helps,
-Sage
