Having trouble joining 15s club.

Its my first time at the track and the first time racing ever. I had a great time, but I'm still a total newb. I've got Injen CAI, and a Warpspeed Y, on a 97 GXE Max with SE wheels (Kumho 225/55 tires down to 26psi). With me in the car, my weight is 3260 lbs (i'm a heavy guy).

My best time:

r/t -- .168
60' -- 2.481
1/8 -- 10.362 @ 69.78
1/4 -- 16.032 @ 85.60

Since I'm an auto, I'm using Jime's DR mod. But that's causing a CEL, and my buddy says that anytime you have a CEL; you're running rich. I was wondering if these numbers look right, or if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

well the 60' time is what needs improving. get that down to a 2.30 or so and you will be well into the 15s. how to do that is another issue however, i've never driven an auto so i dont know what techniques those guys use.

All he needs to do is make sure his tires are clean when he stages with a little spin and when he gets on the mark, torque brake. When the 3rd yellow illuminates, let go of the brake and press the accelerator at the same time and let it rip. I usually torque brake when both lanes are ready to go instead of just holding it and overheated the TC if I am first to line up.

Imobejoas: Your friend is wrong. You're getting the CEL because of the line pressure of the tranny. When you use the DR mod, you get the CEL.

my best with the 96 auto was

60' 2.343
330' 6.654
1/8 10.167 @ 71.63
1000' 13.206
1/4 15.774 @ 87.15
Only power adder was a cone intake....oh and the DR mod.

here is a run similar to yours:

60' 2.421
330' 6.801
1/8 10.360 @ 70.87
1000' 13.423
1/4 16.033@85.70

Try brake torquing at 1,800 rpms or so. Practice makes perfect. Auto are easy to learn and there is much improvment to be made.
