? on 2k2 fresh air vents

Those with climate control, when you switch the system to "off" and recirc is off, do you get outside air from the vents when car is in motion?
Only car I've driven that did not and just wondering if this is normal.
Thanks for you replies.

Recirc valve on = no outside air....recirc off = air rushing in as the car is moving...I noticed that one day too...couldn't figure out where the hell the air was coming from..I thought the fan motor was stuck in the on position..so I called Nissan and the service writer told me to press the recirc valve....the air stopped rushing into the car..

So I guess my car has a problem then because I get no air coming in regardless of recirc on or off except only when the climate control is active = ECON light is on = fan on. Wow, I should have asked earlier.

Anyone else has this problem?

Max, try hitting the 'mode' button with the recirc off. that will let you select which vents to let the air through when the fan isn't on. If that doesn't work, you definitely have a problem.

Max6spd, Tilt the sunroof up if you have one. If that doesn't work then you definately have a problem. Also clean out the cabin filter. It may be clogged. There is two vents that open to let in the fresh air and the filter is downstream of these vents.

When the climate control is "off" the mode door switches to the floor (heater) vents. So you were getting flow through those but probably didn't notice it.

As pigburger pointed out, if you push the "mode" button, the display turns on and you can choose which vents. Note that on a hot day, the air will pick up some heat from the engine compartment so the air coming from the vents will be a little warmer than ambient even if you set the temp to minimum.

BTW that isn't in the manual so you didn't miss it.

Also not in the manual (but I proved it by experiment) is that the temperature control is working even when the climate system is "off." (Of course the a/c compressor doesn't run so there will be no cooling.) If you twist the temp control **** while the ignition is on but the climate control display is dark, you will see the temp setting will be changed next time the display comes on. If you leave the climate system off but twist the temp **** to a high enough temperature, then it will heat the air coming through the floor vents - even in the summer, when you don't want it. However, for highway driving in the winter it's nice, because the low airflow rate will cause the air temperature to be quite high in order to maintain the cabin temp, producing nice toasty toes.
