PR CAI install for 95-96 - ambient temp. sensor
According to the directions (step 11) here is what we have to do with our ambient temperature sensor in 95-96, when installing the PR CAI rubing:
However, here is a pic that I took of the hole in the tube, and the ambient temperature sensor. I do not see any conceivable way that the sensor can screw into that hole, when there are NO holes to screw into!! Can someone please shed some light on this?

Note the two little screw holes on the ambient temp. sensor, but no screw holes on the CAI piping itself for it to screw into. How is the sensor supposed to plug into that hole in a 95-96 Maxima?
On the 95-96 models attaching the AMB sensor is a little more complicated because its held on with two small screws rather than plugging into a grommet. The upper CAI tube is already drilled to accept the sensor, using the stock parts. IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU MUST USE THREAD LOCKING COMPOUND (LOCTITE) ON THE TWO SCREWS THAT SECURE THE AMB SENSOR AND A DAB OF SILICONE SEALANT ON THE THREADED PLATE. Failure to do so may result in the screws working loose and the metal plate can be ingested into the engine. With the dab of silicone rubber onto the plate it coannot travel into the intake tube even if the screws work loose.

well normally when you order a new PR CAI they would give you the correct tube for your year. 95-96 use the ones that come with pre-drilled holes for the ambient sensor, whereas the 97-99 have one large hole to accomodate the rubber plug style sensor.
hope that clears a little up for you.

There are two different kinds of Ambiant Sensors...the Pop in and the Screw in...Different years had different models.
Mark the pipe, drill and use the screws and inside plate that were on your stock intake setup...

Well, I lost the two little screws so I have them on order from Nissan (couple of bucks). Until then I have loads of electrical tape holding the sensor in the hole...
I almost like this way better... it seems that the hole is a little bit bigger than the surface of the sensor so either way something extra will have to be put in place to cover the hole entirely, with the sensor in it.
