Show me a 4th gen with Superleggera's
Show me a 4th gen with Superleggera's
I'm *this* close (holds fingers together) to getting titanium 18" superleggera's for the Max. Tirerack's interactive wheel BS makes them look awful and I just KNOW they look better than that.
Who's got em and can post a pic? Preferrably 18", DEFINITELY on a 4th gen and preferrably on a dropped car ... anyone?

Ooh, I love that wheel, and I've seen it on an Impala SS, Audi A6, and a Tiburon, but the 18" usually looks smaller than an 18" (the Tiburon would be the exception to that statement). If you've got the cash, I strongly suggest the 19" - it will look incredible.
Here's mine - 17x8 mts. No idea if this is the same as titanium but it's darker than silver/hyper silver/etc. Still not gunmetal but oh well I got tired of waiting. Eibach springs leave a little something to be desired now though...

bruteMax - those look REALLY good, but they look like 16"s. Strange optical illusion with those wheels. Also, I prefer the multipiece (forget if they're 2 or 3 piece) but those still look silky.
BE CAREFUL: the rims Brute Max has are NOT the Superleggeras Tirerack is now selling. OZ changed the design and the color last year. The old ones were 10 times better than the new ones. My advice: watch eBay for the old (titanium colored) Superleggeras. A while there was a seller with brand new old-type Superleggeras at a good price.
I know for a fact that Tirerack is out of the old type because my friend tried to get them last fall and they had only one wheel remaining in stock. OZ is no longer making the old style.
Also, there is indeed an optical illusion. The lip on the old-type SLs is slightly dominant over the spokes. It's not as bad as a rim with a big lip (e.g. SSR Comps which look truly tiny) but it's nothing like MM Evo5s, for example, which look bigger than the size they are because the spokes go on top of the lip. Very interesting optical trick indeed. Also, the new-type SLs are MUCH worse than the old type for this (the spokes are actually recessed; check the superview image on Tirerack and you'll see).
And I think the new bright silver finish is so ugly compared to the distinctive titanium.

yeah, they weigh just 18 lbs each (18X8)... a huge difference from this other set I have, 29 lbs each... But they are PURDEEEEE...

I was gonna say, "Where is chunger when you need him?" VQuick is right. I had a big ordeal with TireRack in attempting to get these rims. I ended up getting the SSR's for the same price. So, its all good. Still, O.Z.'s are incredible rims. They are the lightest non-forged rim made. They are very popular in the Grand-Am cup series and this must mean that they are very strong despite not being forged.
Chunger, where did you get that photo? The only one listed on Tirerack is the silver version: http://www.tirerack.com/servlet/Call...filterSpecial=

I had a pic of similar profile and did a photochop ... the rims are a little darker in that pic than they would be in mine due to different lighting, but it really gives you an idea of how they would look on my car which doesn't have a body kit. Image is as true to size as I could possibly get ...

I am MUCH more confident now that they will look as good as I hoped.
Also helps I'm getting a great deal on them.

gj on the photoshop job, too.

Big Ham, I would suggest you call Tirerack to find out if what I just said is actually the case. Good luck.

This I take to mean that Tirerack does not have any stock left of the titanium grey SL in 5x114.3 with a proper offset. They may have some other bolt patterns still left, but this color is discontinued so they will not be getting any more that will fit a Maxima. This is what Broaner found out long ago.

Thanks for the heads up tho ...
They look a bit too flush with the front fender for my liking but it's not that bad.
VQuick... I did notice that it (grey color) was not an option for our cars when I just went on their website... I was addressing what I thought was an issue of them being "different" in terms of quality... It's just color... AFAIK, they are still using the same construction (partial use of titanium or was it magnesium? in the alloy). They do look like they are phasing out the dark silver color though:

They're not phasing out that color. Its completely gone. They are not producing it at all anymore and have not been doing so for at least the last six months. I'm sure there are still lots of these out there to be had whether they be at small venders or used. I really like the rim though. I actually saw a max recently with these in person in Chicago and it was beautiful. It didn't look like an .org member though because the car was completely stock other than the rims. I would agree that they are in kinda far though. My SSR's are +38 and they are just perfect. With a 245 on it they are to far out.
