Home made 9004 harness
I just read for the first time that some people don't have the best of luck with APC harnesses. These harnesses would not be hard to make oneself (with perfect length and 8 gauge power feed leads) EXCEPT for one small detail: where to get a connector that looks like a 9004 bulb so it will fit the headlight socket to pick up the relay steering signals.
Anyone have any idea where these connectors can be obtained from?
Thanks
John

i got some 9004 harnesses for 2.99 from AutoZone. I replicated the APC wiring harness by making my own upgraed wiring set. I got the relays from Radioshack for 5.99 each. You need 2 of those and some 8 guage wire. Mines work great. e-mail me and i will see if i can get some pics of it up.

I did not think it would be hard. Those hunting for a bargain, you can get the relays and the sockets cheaper from some of the electronics supply houses like Hosfelt or All Electronics.
Did you get a connector to plug into your existing harness to pick up the relay steering signals (if so where did you get it) or did you solder in those connections?
Thanks,
John

directions to make this would require a decent amount of knowledge in how relays work, and basic wiring techniques. It's one of those things that if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't be trying to mess with it. not to sound rude, but I don't wanna spend 45 minutes to write out instructions, and then listen to someone come back a week later and cry because they set their car on fire because they hooked the wrong wires together.
I made my own a while back for my BMW headlights, but they can be easily converted to 9004 style just by replacing the connectors.
as far as how I got the signal to the relays, I just chopped off the oem harness and stuck some quick disconnects on the ends of the wires. this way I can do whatever I want there, and if I want to put the OEM connectors back on, I just stick some more quick disconnects on the wires coming out of the stock connector and stick it together. 3 min job.
