My A/C compressor is a little noisy sometimes. It's cooling just great but I was wondering what I can do about the noise. Can you add this compressor oil? Has any one had this done, how much did it cost? Any other suggestions?

TIA

The A/C system does need periodic maintenance, and the oil is one of the items. It sould be evacuated, cleaned and dried, but this shouldn't be need for another couple of years on your car. The oil level shouldn't drop unless there is a leak in the system, and you would have noticed that it didn't work very well. The amount of oil is very specific, so I wouldn't just add some. I would take the car to someone who works on A/C sytems to have them look at it. It could just be something like a problem with the pulley or clutch. If there is a problem, it's cheaper to get it fixed before it completely fails.

Since you say that it,s cooling okay, I doubt that you are loosing any oil. You can check for leaks by looking at all visible joints/connections and look for a oily/dirty substance forming at the joints. If they are dry then that part is okay. The areas you cannot get to can only be checked with a "sniffer". You probably have a clutch bearing that is going bad or the pulley/belt is going out. DO NOT add any oil to the system because you may overservice it and things could get very $$$$$$$$.
