Knock Knock Rattle Rattle @35k Miles
Most of you know I took my max in for pings and nocks issues.. well now the same cycylinder looks to have a noisy or broken rocker arm or some slopp in the ris pin at the top of the piston rod.
I can make it do the rattle.. by holding RPM at 1400 then ever so slowly accelerating gently.. to 1490 rpm.. I mean slowly.. the engine reaches what I call innertia.. where its not accelarating or decelarating.. thats when out of now where the engine will start to make all kinds of noise comming from the top of the firewall side of the motor.
Any suggestions/ started last night.. I have 35, 800 miles on her and now with four day weekend I cant drive it.. dont want to go past warranty.. I do have Nissan extended.. 7/100 and drive train is 6/50k but still dont want any BS. So i am having to drive my BIG *** V10 lifted to the sky f350 all weekend to the tune of 2.50 gallon 10mpg.. damb it.
Funny thing is I had an appointment to finally buy my new wheels and tires. I drove it over there gently only a mile or so from the house.
No fun till they fix it. Wonder if I get a rent a car while under factory warranty?
Anyways.. anyone have this happen? hear this noise.

I have the same problem too, my motor ping and knock between 1500-2000RPM after that nothing. Even if the engine make noise i don't loose any power.
I only use premium gas, use syntec oil. I only have 25000km???

first look at your O2-sensor. If this does not help then look at your MAF. If not that then it may be your ignition coils. Remember always start with the least $ when problemles like this start.
There is a Technical Service Bulletin related to this problem. It is the ignition coils. They will need to be replaced. If you have an extended warranty, it will be covered. The Maf is also there

HHMM I didnt specify.. the knock and pins is one thing.. NOW I HAVE A RATTLE BROKEN ROCKER ARM sound coming from the rear valve cover. I am well aware of the ping and nock BS.. dealer won't do anything about it . Irony here is now I have to take it back it with what sounds to be a broken lifter or worse piston nock. At the very least it will be a rocker arm. I think all that ping and nock is causing new internal problems.
NOTE:" dealer will said they dont acknowledge a problem. Till then nissan corporate told me there is no problem. GET IT>> so I am just imagening it.
Wonder what they are going to say just one month later when I take it in with this broken valve issue?? lol should have replaced the coils.
Will keep you guys posted. I did pay out of pocket and take it to DYNO shop and they did see the problem but nissan offerd no solution. Once again saying : you can make any car nock and ping. So 300 bucks out of pocket just to be back to where I started.
And to boot now I have no car for the weekend and I just got the new wheels. DAMB IT>

I have the same problem; not like JMAconcepts, but the annoying ping that some '02s experience. I used that BK-44 or BKG-44 fuels system treatment. Not quite sure the exact name. My pings went away for the next 3 gas fillups and at the the I was ecstatic. But the pings/knocks eventually came back. I really wish someone would come up with a cure for this. Two different dealers don't have a clue about it. One of them acknoledged that they heard it though.
