Y-pipe install not working out

Well I thought it would be easy but i guess not...the 2 cat bolts just arent budging....even with the impact gun. So I just stopped there since if I cant get those off, i wont be able to install the pipe. I'm prolly gunna head out to meineke some time this week to install.....I really wanted to do it myself

You can still do it yourself. Go to your mechanic or even go to Meineke and have them torch the bolts off and replace them. It shouldn't cost you too much to do. Then you'll be able to take them off yourself.

Well you can do that, but you did say you wanted to do it yourself, thats why I suggested that.

Heres an update guys....well I got the cat bolt loose, dont ask how BUT now the problem is with the header bolts. They are quite tight and look really rotted, not to mention, one of them is a bolt instead of a nut (I assume someone previously broke the stud). I'm just gunna have a shop take them off. Thanks

Penatrating oil will get the job done. Trust me. Got my whole exhaust out with it in 20min.

Yea, already soaked it 3 times, once let sit for 1 hour and here and there while under the car. I'm just too scared that if the studs break off, because it looks like one of them already broke off from a previous installation. Not to mention that the bolts are in very inaccessable locations and I cut up my hand pretty bad

Ok well I tried bringing it to a mechanic but they couldnt do it because it's illegal for them to touch any emissions equuiptment. So I got the Y-pipe off myself. Now I just gotta jet some replacemt studs and bolts for the Cat....I hope everything works out

DONE! Phew, that was rough...Y-pipe is on and rockin. Power gain is a little noticable, but I just reset my ecu so I'll give it a little time. The biggest difference is sound...MAN I LOVE IT. My catback was completely silent before and now it sounds chunky, but not too loud. Good work Warpspeed, and no bees in a can.

The pre-cats are part of the emission system for our cars. That is why the aftermarket y-pipes for our cars are only for "offroad use". The mechanic cannot legally take off the y-pipe with the pre-cats to install a y-pipe without them. Some of us were lucky enough to have the shops we went to do it.

Hey PopPoe I am glad that it worked out for you. Wait until you get onto afreeway and on-ramp and go WOT, you will not be dissapointed .
