$65 for Y-pipe install?

Let me preface with this: I have neither the tools nor expertise to replace the Y myself...

So, does $65 sound like a fair price to you?

Cheers

I paid $60 for my first install on my previous 2000 and I thought that was fair.

Well worth it, given your not setup to do yourself, spend the $$$

Took me 3 hours to swap mine in. Mostly locating required tools and struggling with rust. (yeah maybe 20 minute job for someone with all the proper tools layed out and ready, and no rust to fight... but thats not MY garage, and not north eastern weather).

Sounds fair most of the time they have to torch bolts off, thats why it's not sooooo much fun!!!! doing it yourself, unless you have your own torch then that would be fun!

MAKE SURE YOU GET IT DONE AT A GOOD PLACE. I went to a cheap place, they messed everything up, ended up warping all types of crap burning screws off, had to get it redone, cost me anouther 100 bucks. Get it done the right way the 1st time!!

1st time 60$, 2nd time, fixing all probelms, + new o2 sensor bungs 100$

Don't have the guy that says it would take less than 20 minuts. Either he doesn't know what he is talking about or he would do a super ****ty job. To do it right your talking about an hour or two. That is if every thing goes right.

$10 or less to torch the bolts, then do it yourself.

Most of the time was spent waiting for the car to cool down...it went on without a hitch in way under an hour.

This is getting silly. If you pay to have it done, you need to spend the time to drive somewhere, wait for your turn, wait pipes to cool off, etc. Don't tell me that is all factored in your 35 mins?
If you do it yourself, you need to find/layout tools/light/antisieze, do job, cleanup, put away tools, old pipe, etc.

Point is, time is not the issue anyway. Anyone undertaking this, or having it done for them, better allow time for something to go wrong. I personally had to saw off head bolts from my cat (rust). Plus, if you truly enjoy DIY stuff like this, you should also enjoy taking the extra time to do it as well as possible. Too many times people rush through this and trash their O2 sensors, strip bolts, forget gaskets, etc. People that say they can do these mods in 'record' time don't get near my car.

That guy would be me!

Like I said, I don't have the tools, expertise or time to do this properly myself... I agree it would be a good learning experience, and I'm all for doing my own mods, but this is a bridge too far right now...

Cheers

x2. After the first time, you can do it in less than 30 mins.

I just got the bolts torched off and got new ones for $18. Putting the new one in isn't hard at all.
