Yeah, mine smelled like something was burning for a couple of days. It goes away though. Some of that coating they put on there to ship it burns off.

Aren't you glad you went ahead and did this? I mean, can you believe the extra power it has?
Great job and keep up the "go fast" mods.

Check out the other threads. Many of us have PB-blasted our bolts for days and days to no effect. If you've got an older maxima, it's likely that the bolts need to be torched off to be removed.

So, it's not a self-install unless you've got 1) a torch, 2) a lift so you can get enough clearance to use the torch.

$ucks, but that's life...

The y-pipe is gonna give you gains if you "feel" it or not. It removes 2 precats from the stock y. It's working.

As for the smell never got anything like that with my budget y. You'll just have to wait it out. The only thing that I have to battle with now with my y is those friggen "bees in the can" noise (fookin flex section).

I did use pb blaster and it still didn't budge. Well for $80 it sucks but better then having the pipe sit in my room. And the gains are great, every time i hit a straight piece of road i have to punch it. All in all its worth every penny.

Do your y-pipes resonate real bad? I am thinking of buying a budget, but don't want it to sound ricey. btw car is stock except for k&n.

80 bucks? Holy Crap... did they gold plate it while they were at it?

Just had mine put on the other morning by Merlin's and they only charged me $40 bucks... which was high to me. They had to torch off the two bolts by the cat. The six on the manifolds weren't too bad though.

The great thing was... guy said my O2 sensors looked good... barely any carbon build up he says... even easy to get out.

Exhaust Guy: "How long ago did you replace these?"
Me: "Replace them? I haven't... they're fine."
Exhaust Guy: "How many miles are on this thing?"
Me: "185,000 or so..."
Exhaust Guy: "WTF?!"

I like how the guy that said he put his on himself is from Mississippi... come up here and try to budge some bolts on the bottom of my car with some PB Blaster.

We who tolerate the snow, ice and salt definitely need torches for some exhaust bolts. A local muffler place cut the ones between the cat and downpipe for $10 when I did mine. They also loosened the ones between the b-pipe and muffler as I redid the entire exhaust system from the headers back in one day.
