Engine hard to start...what's up?

Weird thing happening; if I try to start the car, and this happens a lot lately, whether in the monrning or late afternoon when its warmer, for some reason it wont start like it should. Now I'm having to turn the key to the point where all the lights on the dash are on, pump the gas a couple of times then crank it. It starts, but then I get this small cloud of white smoke (i'm guessing unburnt fuel) for about a second or two that then disappears.

Now initially, I was thinking sparks, but I just replaced those a few months ago with Nissan spec platimum NGK's and its been just fine. What's up?
