getting code 0707, rear O2 sensor, cars runs fine, is it important to fix right away, or can I put this off till its time for an emissions inspection? how much does this usually cost to replace?

 

About $120 from Pinnacle Nissan, www.pinnaclenissan.com there are other places you can get it for cheaper, but I'm not sure what they are called. It's not critical, or hasn't been for me, but it would be nice to get rid of the CEL. Shouldnt effect performance. From what I have read on here, it moniters the condition of the cat. I have a test pipe, and it lasted for about 3 years with the test pipe, until I ran over a semi truck tire about 6 months ago, and it bent the O2 sensor and from then I have had this code. I havent noticed anything different on the car besides the CEL on.

"0707" which points to the rear Oxygen Sensor.

Your Maxima has three Oxygen Sensors. Two are front sensors, mounted in
the Y-pipe between the exhaust manifolds and the Catalytic Converter. One
is a rear sensor, mounted in the exhaust pipe downstream of the Cat.

When both front Oxygen Sensors are operating normally the rear sensor serves only to keep tabs on the Catalytic Converter. That's the reason your engine is running well. The Engine Control Module (the computer) is not using the signal from the rear sensor to control engine management functions.
