01' Trans in a 98

Ok,

What would be different in putting a 2001 5-speed trans into a 98 5-speed rather than putting a 98 into a 98?
I am about to have my transmission replaced and would like to know which is best.

thank you

Bruce

So then here is the question what a bout a six speed. And then having new gears cut so they are longer that why you can hold the gear longer for the 1/4 and also for topside running.

NO changes needed..call any axle guy in the area and everyone will tell you that the 95-99' axle part numbers are the same for the 00-01'. The shifter will lean back a slight bit back but only noticable to you, and you do get used to it fast.

The drivers side axle will be different ONLY if you use an anniversary edition tranny from a 2001' Maxima which is really rair

There has been ONE 6 speed tranny (that I know of) in a 4th gen. And even he said it wasnt worth the time/money/work.

hey thats cool I'll just have to change my gear ratios to smooth out the power band and get to where I want to be.
