I always hated the fact that the '99 maxima doesn't have any cup holders in the back seat. I would like to add two somewhere. I thought about some how fabricated something off the back on the center console or maybe in the center rear fold down arm rest. Has anyone done anything like this or maybe came up with something easier or different. Please give suggestions.

I have the tan interior also so finding something that would work may be a little more difficult.

I like the idea of putting it in the center console in the back, seems like that is the best and most comfortable place to put a set of cut holders.

the 96's maxs have that single cup holder inside the middle compartment, if you could get two of those and some how get it into the middle of the console in the back, that would look good and hold drink up to 32oz, but those are black so some painting maybe needed.

Walmart has a single one that will screw mount up against anything flatsided, the bottom flips down, then an adjustable hook comes out for various widths, I've had them in previous cars, you miight be able to mount two side by side against the back of the center console covering the ashtray? It is black but could be painted.They're about $5.00 each, hope this helps

 

something really neat i saw once in a car in our shop...it was a hyundai, not sure which one but an older model 01-02ish in the front side of the back seat bottom wehre the hump in the floor is. you pushed it and it popped out and unfolded...kinda like the 350z ones and some of the older acura/hondas. if you could find one it would be an easy and factory looking install.

 

i've been trying to find something to replace that cupholder on the back of my center console so it's a flip down cup holder instead. my gf's geo prism has this and i've been looking for them and corollas at the junk yard but nothing yet.

I have been thinking about putting a double cup holder in the rear fold down arm rest in the middle of my 96 I30 back seat as well. I was looking at purchasing the double cup holder from the later 99 model I30 and basically cutting into the top side of the arm rest (when it is folded down) and fixing the cup holder into the arm rest with glue. I figure, if you cut the hole in the armrest a little smaller than the size of the cup holder, then you will not see any ugly cut material once the cup holder is fixed in there.

Just my thoughts. Thats funny others have thought about this. I thought I was the only one. LOL
