When I start the car up in the morning...or when the engine itself isnt warm...if I turn the steering wheel either direction...this LOUD chirping (like an ANNOYING loud as.s bird) sound comes from under the hood.

It'll will make the steering wheel jerk a little bit, but once I get rolling and car's warmed up...it's fine. What could it be?

 

Is it a whining kind of sound? I know that low power-steering fluid will cause a whine when turning the steering wheel...dunno about a chirp though.

 

Nah, I know the whining sound...this DEFINITELY isnt it...I'll try to get a sound clip.

 

I know the sound you are talking about Soulfly.....REAL LOUD...embarassing! Try tightening your belts. Check out a Hayne's manual. Could help. If it is loud now, wait until Jan/Feb.

 

Ha..if it will even last till then. Is it definitely the belt?
