Spark plug gap

Hi,

I'm the new owner of a really nice '95 GXE. I want to do a tuneup and ordered some sparkplugs from an alleged Nissan online shop - they sent me Denso spark plugs. After reading through this page I realize the recommended plug is by NGK. Has anyone used Densos? I noticed that all online shops sell them.

Also, what should the gap be? The car should take platinum plugs, which I guess don't need to be gapped, but since I'm using regular plugs I need to know the proper gap, and the owners manual doesn't say anything about it.

Lastly, can anyone recommend a really good online parts source? The last place I called held itself out to be a Nissan oriented place, but I could tell the guy on the phone didn't know much about Nissans.

Thanks,

Greg

Courtesy Nissan is a great source and they give me a discount when I tell them I am a maxima.org member. They are here local to me in the Dallas area. But you can find them at www.courtesynissan.com or for parts www.courtesyparts.com

Is it true that you don't have to gap platinum plugs?

I'm not going to guess about gapping the platinums, but I can say for sure that there is no gap recommendation in the owner's manual. That said, I have always had to adjust the gap on sparkplugs I have bought in the past, so I would never assume the gap is correct from the factory. 0.38-0.44 is pretty large. Gap is usually 0.32 for engines in general (in my experience), so I'm glad I asked. Thanks!
